Independent repairs for every major brand

Most South African homes have a mix of brands: a Samsung or LG fridge, a Defy stove, a Bosch or Whirlpool washing machine, a Hisense or Midea aircon, perhaps a KIC chest freezer in the garage. Rather than calling a different agent for each one, you can call one independent technician who works on all of them.

That is what we do. Our technicians have more than 15 years of experience across the brands that South African households actually own, from long-serving local favourites to the latest inverter and smart appliances.

What independent means

We are not an authorised agent, service centre or dealer for any manufacturer. In practice that means:

• We work on all brands, so one visit can cover a Samsung fridge and a Bosch washing machine.
• We give honest advice, because we do not sell new appliances on behalf of a brand.
• We use genuine or quality-matched parts, and tell you which before we fit them.
• Our own warranty applies. Every repair carries a 6-month warranty on the parts we fit and our workmanship.

One important point: if your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer or the retailer you bought it from first. Independent repairs may affect a manufacturer's warranty claim. Once the manufacturer's warranty has ended, we can help.

How brand affects a repair

Brands differ in how they are built, which parts fail most often and how they report faults:

• Error codes are brand-specific. A Samsung washing machine and an LG washing machine report the same drainage problem with completely different codes. A photo of the code, together with the model sticker, lets us diagnose before we arrive.
• Inverter technology is now common in Samsung, LG, Hisense and Midea fridges, washing machines and aircons. Inverter compressors and motors are efficient, but their control electronics need careful diagnosis.
• Built-in and premium appliances from Bosch and Smeg need care to remove and refit without damaging kitchens.
• Local favourites like Defy and KIC are often older, robust appliances that are well worth repairing.

Finding your model number

The model sticker is the most useful thing you can send us:

• Fridges: inside, on a side wall of the fridge section, or behind the vegetable drawer
• Washing machines: inside the door rim, on the back or behind the filter flap
• Dishwashers: on the side or top edge of the door
• Ovens and stoves: on the oven door frame or inside the storage drawer
• Aircons: on the side of the indoor unit and on the outdoor unit

Brand-specific advice

Each brand page includes advice that is specific to that brand and its typical faults:

• Samsung: defrost faults behind the back panel, ice makers, inverter boards and washing machine error codes.
• LG: careful compressor diagnosis on fridges and direct-drive motor faults on washing machines.
• Defy: robust, widely repaired fridges, washing machines and the familiar freestanding stove.
• Hisense: good-value fridges and aircons, and avoiding defrosting damage.
• Bosch: NoFrost fridges, carbon brushes on washing machines and built-in ovens.
• Whirlpool: top loaders and front loaders, and what to expect from each.
• Smeg: built-in ovens and range cookers, with temperature testing tips.
• KIC: chest freezers, and where to keep them.
• Midea: inverter aircons, error codes and placement advice.
